Keith is highly observant of his team's well-being and will rush to protect or avenge them when needed even if it means putting himself directly in harm's way, and this self-sacrificial nature is something he extends to the Red Lion to prove his worth, as well as when he confronts the mystery of Galran heritage.

Though desperate to know the truth about himself, he willingly puts his selfish desires aside to fulfill his duty as a Paladin.

Following his brief experience as leader piloting the Black Lion, his decision to leave Team Voltron only occurs so that "Shiro" may return as the Black Paladin, as Keith constantly compares himself to Shiro , who guided him in his youth, and feels the man is a better leader than himself.

It is only after meeting his mother, Krolia, and bonding with her for two years that Keith stabilizes and matures as a person, returning to the mantle of Black Paladin once "Shiro", truly a clone, turns against the team.

It is clear that Keith has an immense sense of justice, selflessness, and the desire to fight alongside his team to bring light to the darkest time of the universe despite what costs may come.

Keith's specialty lies in close-combat with martial arts and bladed sidearms, using a fighting style said to be more Galran than human.

While Keith's instincts allow him to react quickly, it makes him less observant of his surroundings and more susceptible to surprise attacks.

At the Galaxy Garrison, Keith was the top pilot of his class. This wiki. This wiki All wikis. Sign In Don't have an account? Start a Wiki.

Keith is very clearly mourning the loss of Shiro. The season starts with Keith searching the debris of the battle with Zarkon for Shiro.

Keith has a flashback to that battle and then to him running for the Black Lion with a broken expression. Everyone seems to have forgotten that.

I'm gonna find him! Shiro is the one person who never gave up on me. Later the team is having a diplomatic meeting, the leaders in attending are asking for Voltron to be formed.

He continues by saying how Shiro was the Black Lion and until they find him there is no Voltron. Already at his end, after a leader asks the team what he should tell his people, Keith slams his fists on the table and explodes at him telling him, as well as the rest of the leaders to stand up and fight for themselves and how Voltron is gone.

Keith then storms out of the room. Once the tension has settled, Keith is seen standing in front of the Black Lion, clearly longing for Shiro.

The others come up beside him, saying a neat thing about Shiro. The team is sitting around the common area when Allura is asked if she can figure out who pilots what Lion now, much like how she did when the team first became paladins.

She says she cannot. The team decides to let the Black Lion choose its paladin. He sighs sadly, but goes ahead inside the cockpit. The team gets a distress message from the same leader Keith snapped at from the previous episode.

Keith and the others head for their Lions, with Keith regrettably heading for the Black Lion. Shiro wakes in a Galra base and fights his way out, escaping with a battle cruiser to an ice planet.

Though once Shiro spares their lives, they change their minds of him. A week goes by, during which he records logs. Not long until death, he has flashbacks of his friends and teammates; the first being of Keith on the dunes, the morning after he was rescued.

Keith smiles too at finally finding his best friend. Shiro is sitting up in bed, blanket over his lap, wearing a white tank-top.

Shiro addresses his plan to the team. Seeing this, the team needs a new plan. Keith says he is. As the others leave with their Lions, the Black Lion sits in its hanger, not responding to Shiro.

As Keith leads the mission, Shiro ends up being the one giving the team support from the ship. They begin to unintentionally disagree with each other on what to do.

Shiro disagrees and says how the team should stay together. The rest of the team agrees with Shiro, outnumbered, Keith stubbornly says fine.

Shiro and Keith argue more; Shiro believing teludav needs to be destroyed, while Keith believing the comet does. Back on the castleship, Keith stands alone in a room, arms crossed and looking down.

Once returning from a mission with the Blades of Marorma, Keith walks up to Shiro, Shiro is quick to tell him that the the other paladins are on a mission and for Keith to get to the Black Lion immediately to join them.

After the mission, Shiro and Keith are talking while overlooking a sunset. Keith asks if Shiro was able to talk with Kolivan of the intel he and Blades gathered earlier, Shiro says he has.

Though that smile soon dropping when Keith argues back, telling Shiro he only tried once bonding with the Lion before. Shiro tells Keith he supports his Blade of Marmora training, but not at the expense of Team Voltron, not when they need a leader.

Not long after a message from Kolivan comes in, needing his agents to act fast. Keith is absent for another mission, one that put Voltron and refugees in danger.

Shiro tries again to bond with the Black Lion, this time finally getting a response; he is able to help. Keith continues by saying how he needs to be on that mission with the supply line, with the Blade of Marmora.

He goes on saying how Shiro is the rightful leader of Voltron. Moments later the entire team joins in on them, enclosing Shiro and Keith even closer together.

He soon spots a Galra battle cruiser, then heading out. Shiro and others are finally able to escape the barrier that has come of the bomb surrounding the planet.

At having the barrier go down, Shiro is quick to praise Keith. With so many powerful Galra in one place, Keith and other BoM members know they must take them out.

They plant bombs all around the unsuspecting Galra commanders fighting for control above. Soon after, Shiro arrives via the Black Lion.

As Keith is running, he turns back to see the Black Lion parked where the Galra stand. Not wasting time, Keith runs back and begins to disarm the bombs placed by hand.

Though soon realizing there are too many, he runs back out. When Keith returns after two years, Shiro stammers over his words when talking to him.

Keith has been gone for two years. Shiro makes contact with the pod, asking for whomever to identify themselves. Keith appears on the screen, identifying himself.

Moments later, Shiro screams in pain. Keith is visibly heartbroken by this. Keith watches as Shiro flies his pod away from him, wanting nothing more than to fly after him.

The fight resumes from the previous episode, Keith watches as Shiro flies his pod away from him. We have to make sure we get Shiro back!

The Galra or Lotor have to be behind it. Keith tells the team to disband back in the Lions, as it just might be enough to propel him forward.

They do and Keith flies through an unknown wormhole all to get to Shiro. Through the wormhole, Keith fights off Acxa effortlessly, too determined to get to Shiro as soon as possible.

Keith plows the Black Lion into the Galra ship he knows Shiro is on, locking onto him. He flies off to find a way to gain better access.

Through her control, Haggar commands Shiro to lead the Black Lion away from the fleet. Deeper than the others.

You will exploit this weakness. Moments later, Shiro exits the ship with his pod, flying in direct view of Keith. Keith is surprised to see him.

Let me help you! Keith continues to follow Shiro to a desolate moon. Keith continues onward, once taking a long elevator ride, Keith comes across dozens of other Shiros, all in their own cryo-pods.

Soon an intense battle between them starts, Keith dodging and blocking as much as he can. Keith is unfazed by this, as he knows the real Shiro would never say such a thing to him.

Keith falls to a ledge, dangling for a moment. He manages to pull himself up, and roll onto his back. He notices his blade a distance away from him and he attempts to crawl to it, before he can reach it, Shiro jumps down right at his hands.

He stares down at Keith before swinging his weapon down. Keith is able to grab his blade and flip on his back just before Shiro can deliver a fatal blow.

As Keith struggles to hold him off, he makes another attempt at getting to Shiro — by telling Shiro he loves him. He tells Keith to let go and to stop fighting.

Keith attempts to lift them up with one arm, but they soon fall even further down.

Tides Turn - DREAMWORKS VOLTRON LEGENDARY DEFENDER

Keith is notably fond of the outdoors, finding the quiet of the forest and wild lands to be enjoyable. Keith is in possession of a blade bearing the symbol of the Blade of Marmora with no idea about its origins.

After noting similarities between it and one that Ulaz wielded, Keith began to suspect he was part Galra or being used by Zarkon to track the team, causing him to become more reclusive from his teammates and more sympathetic towards Galra rebel fighters.

When his Galra heritage was revealed, he felt dejected due to Allura's hatred of the Galra extending even to him, and while frustrated and hurt, did not fault her for it.

Luckily for Keith, Allura came to terms with her own suffering and feelings towards the Galra, making amends with him by stating that she considered him and the Paladins her new family, and what is important in a person is who they are, not their blood.

Keith has expressed an interest in searching the universe for his Galran relatives once Voltron was no longer required, showing that he wished to continue his journey of self-discovery and know more about his Galran roots.

Keith does have some issues with trust. Due to his mother leaving him as an infant and his father's death when he was still a small child, Keith had some serious barriers that he kept up around his friends and teammates, which initially impeded his abilities as a leader during the first few missions as the head of Voltron.

Due his emotional trauma, Keith attempted to be off-putting in an attempt to spare himself the pain of possible rejection. Keith embodies the Red Lion's elemental affiliation of Fire in his hotheaded personality, fierce instincts in battle, and often incendiary humor and remarks.

But like fire, Keith's impulsive and explosive tendencies can be harnessed as a valuable tool and weapon to ensure the survival and victory of his friends and innocents.

Keith's mixed heritage seems to have had an affect on him. After discovering his Galran heritage, Keith began to volunteer for increasingly dangerous assignments from the Blade of Marmora, seeming to feel the need to attach him to the closest connection he had to his biological family.

Keith often felt the need to prove himself to his commanding officer and mentor, Kolivan, while simultaneously disregarding orders to put the mission first.

Keith shares key characteristics with his Galran mother, Krolia, including a protective streak, a tendency to be impulsive, and a habit of incorporating his own emotional agenda into his missions against the advice of senior officers such as Shiro or Kolivan.

Following his reunion with his mother, Keith matured considerably over his two years in warped space.

Having finally discovered the reason why his mother left him was for his protection, Keith finally made peace with his past on Earth. Keith was known to have been close with his father, and now having known his mother, he is far more at ease with his heritage, feeling at peace at last.

Keith's latent leadership abilities came to surface along his journey, though he is less decisive and more aggressive as a leader than Shiro, though he is quickly calming down into a leader of great skill, as noted by the Black Lion who only allows born leaders to partner with it.

In this sense, his personality is cooling down from a raging fire to a strong and powerful whirlwind. Keith's leadership style embodies the more aggressive traits of the Black Lion.

Since returning from the Quantum Abyss, Keith's ability to connect to Black's consciousness directly seems to be indicative of his newfound maturity.

He was able to calmly and decisively lead the Paladins against Lotor and his Sincline mech. No longer possessed by his manic and frenetic mindset in battle, Keith is now a leader come full circle in his journey of self-discovery.

It can be seen that he no longer is as anxious or aggressive in his leadership style, able to master control over himself enough to see through the eyes of the Black Lion, a feat only displayed among the current generation of Paladins by his predecessor, Shiro.

In essence, Keith's journey in Legendary Defender is one of "forming the head", to paraphrase his Defender of the Universe counterpart. While the original series presented viewers with a fully-formed something Keith who was "specially trained and sent by the Alliance" as a well-balanced exemplary leader, here Keith is being shown undergoing the trials and tribulations necessary to forge such a leader, like a blade made much stronger from being tempered in heat and cold.

Thus far Keith's experiences and performance have given much promise that his inner struggles will at last crystallize into a beacon of hope, like grim percussion replaced by the clarion call of a trumpet.

A skilled martial artist, Keith is extremely capable on the battlefield as his Bayard takes the form of a katar that can slice through solid steel with ease.

He is dedicated to maintaining his abilities and spends his free time on the ship honing his combat skills.

After Shiro , Keith is easily the best hand-to-hand combatant on the team. His combat skills allowed him to knock three Garrison military doctors out cold with minimal effort and incredible speed.

Keith is also physically the fastest of the team, making his way across the battlefield like a blazing meteorite. He is still learning, but he is an impressive and dangerous swordsman who should not be underestimated.

He is also surprisingly strong despite his lean frame and his tendency to stress speed and agility over strength in a fight.

Keith is a prodigy pilot who relies more on instinct and natural talent than on learned skill alone. He is capable of handling the Red Lion not because of their shared ferocious and rebellious natures, but because of his instincts and respect for Shiro as a leader.

Unlike the others, Keith had to earn his Lion's respect by fighting to protect it at all costs, thus impressing Red. He is a high speed combat specialist who fights at his maximum at all times.

Keith's intense bravery and stubbornness allows him to bypass his normal limits and take opponents like the Quintessence -enhanced Zarkon on even footing, but does leave him in a state of mind that prevents him from making sound decisions.

Once Keith does gain entrance into the castle again, the first thing he sees his Shiro getting knocked down by Sendak, Keith immediately attacks Sendak, landing a powerful kick.

We need you, buddy. Get in there and flush him out. Following the attack Sendak executed on the castle, the crystal he used infected the castleship, causing things inside to attack the paladins.

Prior to this information, the team has Sendak in a cryo pod, wanting to extract information from him. The process takes a long while with everyone getting bored, all leaving to attend to other things with the exception of Shiro.

Keith and others are attacked by something different connected to the castle. I'm going in! Keith informs the others to go after Allura while he protects the Black Lion.

As the team is making their escape, in a last ditch effort to stop them, Haggar corrupts their wormhole with dark magic, causing the paladins to have no control over where they end up.

Shiro and Keith get thrown out of the castleship together. Shiro and Keith wind up being stranded on the same planet with their Lions disabled.

As soon as Keith comes to and gets his bearings straight, his immediate next thought is where Shiro is.

In return, as soon as Shiro comes to and exits his Lion, his immediate next thought is where Keith is. Shiro calls to Keith, unfortunately only getting static via his helmet.

Knowing he has to get to higher ground, he begins making the trek uphill. As Shiro makes it far enough uphill he hears Keith, turning back hoping to see him.

He attempts to sneak away, but ends up getting spotted by one which alerts the others. As Keith is striving to make it across a massive cliff side he ends up rolling off the edge following powerful water sprouts.

Having nearly failed, he hits the cliff edge hard with the assistance if his jetpack. Shiro loudly repeats his name.

A short fight ensues out and Shiro ends up being hit and tumbles down a steep hill, with his helmet coming off in the process. Keith frantically calls out to Shiro, getting no response.

Once there, Keith sees Shiro being chased by the giant lizard-like creatures. He turns back to the Black Lion still lying on its side, placing his hand on it.

We need to help him. They build a fire and rest while waiting for the others to find them. Keith voices his concerns that he thinks Zarkon imprinted on him during their fight from season 1.

Shiro tells everyone to get some sleep, as the team heads for their rooms, he notices Keith, lost in thought. Just tired.

He asks Coran where they are. Coran informs him that one of the pods launched in the middle of the night.

Shiro orders him to contact that pod. They both refuse as they must know if Zarkon keeps finding the team through them. Keith and Allura begin their journey back, with the Red Lion finding Keith.

Keith and others leave for the mall to retrieve teludav lenses. When Keith and others return, Keith is the only one to ask where Shiro is, when Shiro does make his entrance, Keith is also the only one to ask if Shiro found a way to bond with his Lion.

Shiro responses with a yes and that they need to get moving. The team travels to the Blade of Marmora base, with the coordinates given by formor Blade member, Ulaz.

If you can learn some self-discipline. Nothing is gonna happen to you. Shiro and Keith arrive on what looks to be a barrel asteroid when two Blade of Marmora members come to meet them, all four then descending to where the other members are.

Once inside, Kolivan, the leader, addresses them. Keith is adamant that he must know how the knife ended up in his possession on Earth. If Keith seeks knowledge, Kolivan tells him he can do the Trials of Marmora — a physical and psychological test that pushes those to their limits.

Should he survive, its secrets will be revealed. Keith is given his knife back and the trial begins soon after.

Shiro can do nothing but watch while Keith fights for his life. The more Keith fights, the more BoM members he faces against. After Keith collapses to the floor, Shiro comes up to him, helping him up.

Shiro tells Keith to give up his knife so they can return back to the team. Just before he can reach it, Keith sees his father as he has another hallucination.

The Red Lion starts attacking the base, knowing Keith is in mortal danger. Using this, Shiro is able to break free from the Blades restraining him.

A Blade rushes them both and Shiro rushes in return and the two collide. Just take the knife! Just then, his knife glows and it becomes a sword.

Shiro looks on in awe. A plan is conceived to defeat Zarkon, though there is much preparation that needs to be completed first.

Shiro and Keith are to go on separate dangerous missions, for vital pieces of the plan. Before Keith leaves with Hunk, he and Shiro clasps their hands together, holding them close to their chests as they come close for an intimate embrace, wrapping their other hand around the others back.

Following the successful missions of the separated team, Allura wormholes Keith, along with Hunk and Shiro, along with Lance and Pidge to her location to fight the robeast the team previously fought on the Balmera.

Realizing the team needs Voltron in order to defeat it, much like before, Hunk is left alone to distract the beast while Shiro, Lance and Pidge go retrieve their Lions, before Keith can retrieve his.

Shiro—while in the Black Lion—is furious and swoops down to grip the Yellow Lion, carrying Keith and Hunk to the castleship.

Lance and Pidge are in their own trouble, so Shiro leaves to help them, leaving the Yellow Lion near the castleship. Keith leaves the Lion and jetpacks the rest of the way.

Shiro creates a safe passage for Keith to the base. Once inside, Keith thanks Shiro. In order to protect Zarkon, Haggar hits the paladins with powerful dark magic, disabling Voltron.

Once they come to, Zarkon emerges from his downed command center, in his new super suit. Allura makes for an attack with the castleship, which Zarkon throws back at her, seemly killing her.

As the paladins believe this, Shiro gives an emotion speech about coming together, putting all their energy into Voltron.

Voltron is soon engaged in an intense battle with Zarkon. Zarkon tries again for control of the Black Lion, which Shiro mentions to the team.

Zarkon separates Voltron back into the Lions. When Shiro does come back to consciousness, the Black Lion opens its slot for its bayard and becomes one with the Lion.

The Lions separate from the blast, Coran calls to them and says they need to go. He and Pidge immediately fly down to tow the Lion back onto the castleship.

Keith is very clearly mourning the loss of Shiro. The season starts with Keith searching the debris of the battle with Zarkon for Shiro. Keith has a flashback to that battle and then to him running for the Black Lion with a broken expression.
